Poro Society Forced Young Man into Hiding

A young man by the name of Alhaji Saleiu Turay has been forced into hiding after he was asked to join the secret Poro society in Pepel, Lokomasa Chiefdom in the Port Loko District.

 Information gathered reveals that Salieu Turay was in the village for his father’s burial ceremony when he was confronted to be initiated.

Information also reveals that Turay’s father was a member of the Poro Secret society and being the eldest of the sons it was his turn to take the place of his father who is a strong member of the secret society.

Being the eldest of the sons of Pa Turay, it is the tradition that the elder son is always expected to take the place of his father in a secret society after the father would have pass away.

Turay was said to have fled to Freetown where he was residing and with fight over his father’s properties involving youth leader of the opposition Sierra Leone peoples party one Mohamed Kamara, the situation became worrisome.

The whereabouts of Alhaji Salieu Turay is still unknown as not even friends know anything about the young man who is now running for his life.

It close to a month Salieu has not been seen or heard from. Sources says he was last seen on the 14th February 2015 in Freetown and has since not been set eyes upon.

The Poro secret society is a powerful society in the country with lots of influence.
