The Commissioner of NaCSA, Bockarie Kokofele, has on Monday 21st September 2020 officially launched the IDB/Sierra Leone Government funded nationwide Water Project in Moyamba District.
Addressing senior stakeholders in the district including host PC Gulama, Councilors, local chiefs, Civil Society Organizations, partners, representatives from recipient Chiefdoms(Ribbi & Bagrwa) at the MODCAR Hall, Commissioner Bockarie Kokofele commended His Excellency Rtd Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio for his strong political will and commitment towards the fulfilment of his manifesto promises during all the campaigns leading to the 2018 Presidential Elections, key among which were Saving Lives and Sustaining Livelihoods.
He added that in the midst of the austerity left behind by the APC government, H.E Bio was able to introduce the Free Quality School Education, start a robust fight against corruption, poverty, indiscipline and revamp agriculture, adding that even in the midst of COVID-19 fight, the devastating global pandemic, President Bio’s New Direction Administration continues to sustain livelihoods through the Social Safety Net for extremely poor households , direct cash transfer to the vulnerable during the the three national Lockdowns, the disbursement of Le. 4.8 billion to the Tourism and Hospitality and Tourism Sector, amongst several other moves, to cushion the impact of the global pandemic. The commissioner further reminded the audience about the ongoing deliveries in roads infrastructure and electricity supply nationwide and assured that in the midst of all challenges, Government through NaCSA, will continue to undertake huge investment projects nationwide.
“As this is a year of delivery, and owing to the magnanimity of H.E Bio we will reach out to all regions and districts even though some are still engaged in anti-government activities simply because their so-called government is not in power. But that will never obstruct President Bio’s commitment to evenly distribute state resources nationwide” Commissioner Kokofele assured.
In the official launch, the NaCSA boss disclosed that the $51.93 million Water Project nationwide will provide 53 Bore Holes and 49 Hand Dug Holes in 7 Chiefdoms in 4 Districts ( Port Loko, Tonkolili, Kenema, Moyamba). In Moyamba District, the Commissioner went on, Ribbi and Bagrwa Chiefdoms will each be provided with 18 Water Wells ( 8 bore holes & 10 hand dug wells).
A symbolic handing over of the project to the recipient Chiefdom stakeholders and contractors, respectively, climaxed the occasion.
Also present and made very meaningful, encouraging and inspiring contributions at this historic events were the Provincial Secretary South, Mr. Simeon Fatorma, the Member of Parliament for Constituency 095 Hon. Mustapha Sellu and a representative from the Ministry of Water Resources Mr. Tucker.
