Gov’t Snubs Volleyball ahead of Olympic

Gov’t Snubs Volleyball ahead of Olympic

Now, this is unbelievable!!

So a whole team missed out on competing at the Olympic qualifications in Morocco because of no funding?

But a few days ago government spend lots of money on football and they have given them $10,000 plus a plot of land each as a gift from the president.

Are the other athletes not important? These volleyball players have won so many laurels for Sierra Leone without any significant benefits or recognition from those in power.

Our national athletics team won 7 medals in Nigeria a few weeks ago, and they are yet to receive their allowances.

The Swimming Association has been seeking government support to send their athletes for training ahead of the Olympics, no response.

Over the past years, when Leone Stars was disappointing us, volleyball makes us proud with their good performances and high ranking in international competitions.

We all love and cherish football with so much passion, but Leone Stars is not the only sports team. Football will remain our number one sports, but athletes from the other sports deserve equal opportunity.
