The Head of Chancery /Minister Counselor in the Islamic Republic of Iran has passed away, Foreign Affairs Ministry sources in Freetown told me.

The sources say Mr. Francis E. Kandeh died in the Iranian Capital Tehran, today, Saturday, 26 October, 2019.

The second top Sierra Leone diplomat in Iran took up duty in Iran in 2016 and until his death this morning he was still the Head of Chancery and Minster Counsellor.

He joined the Civil Service in the early 1980’s. Since then, he worked in a few ministries before he was transferred to the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry in the late 80’s where he entered as a Senior Assistant Secretary.

He had worked as a diplomat in Moscow, Adis Ababa before he was posted to Iran where he died in active service this morning.
